Work to clean up the overgrown grounds of the old St George’s Golf Course has begun.
A team of four specially recruited workers joined Parks staff last week to start the nine-week project.
The team will cut back Casuarinas and vegetation as well as mowed lawns in a bid to tidy up an area that has become an eyesore for locals since it closed.
Eyesore
St George’s MP Kenneth Bascome told the Bermuda Sun: “The idea is to clean up the golf course for the nearby residents that have been forced to live near this eyesore for so long.
“We are very grateful to Craig Burt and Stephen Furbert from the Parks Department. And looking forward, there is the possibility of opening the facility back up as a nine hole course to further improve the area.”
