The Fishbowl Bowling League’s Annual Christmas Party, Turkey Shoot Prize and Filipino Club 2000 Charity Presentation had a rejuvenating effect on the bowlers and there was a host of high scores.
Leading the Goldfish in a losing cause was Carlos Estravit, who topped the men’s scoring list on the night with games of 203, 247 and 223 for a 673 series.
Porgies had other ideas as Vernon Daniels offset Estravit’s scores by bowling games of 224, 224 and 205, totalling a 653 series for men’s third series honours to lead the Porgies to a three-point win.
William Steede added a 669 series on games of 244, 223 and 202 to lead Mackerel to a 3 1/2 to 1/2 win over Hogfish, while Gladwin Harvey threw in a 595 in support.
Tony Vibal and Hanny Consolacion — just one pin apart — vied for the Hogfish honours in a losing cause.
Wahoo turned in the best team performance led by Matthew Tumbridge’s 599 and Tiffany Rego’s 573.
They ran home with three points to Snappers one. Peter Winsby claimed the honours for Snappers but could claim only one point.
Barracuda’s Joshua Bento continued his high scoring with games of 207, 191 and 224 for a 622 series that places him third highest in the average category, winning all four points in their encounter with Tuna, who could not muster enough pins to offset the oppositions scores.
The match between Milkfish and Cow Pollies ended 3-1 in favour of the Milkfish, who were led by Daniel Morales’ 541 while for the Pollies A.J. Mello was the top scorer.
Sharing the points, Dolphins and Swordfish ended the night two-all.
Carl Durrant was top scorer for the Dolphins, while for the Swordfish Jamel Bean added a 546 and a 235 game.
Marlins scheduled to bowl Bye (Gone fishin’) had no trouble taking all four points on the lead of Richard Zuill’s 228 game and 613 series.
The league returns to the lanes on January 3, 2014.
