The first two rounds of the 2013 Bermuda Goodwill Golf Tournament are now completed and mark the half way point of the golf tournament. This year has seen 60 teams from the States and Canada grace our shores to take part in the longest running Pro Am golf tournament in the world.  At a time where the northeast is being hit with snow storms, Bermuda is being been blessed with sunny skies and light breezes to welcome the players. The players will have a rest day tomorrow, (Wednesday) and will continue play on Thursday with the final rounds on Friday.

 

Professional Divisions

Dennis Hendershott of Hi 5 Golf and Chris Moody from Riverside Golf Club are sharing the half way lead of the Junior Professional Division with 38 points each.  One point back is Dwayne Pearman from the Port Royal Golf Club and Thomas Doherty from Woodland Golf Club has 36 points.

There is a 3 way tie in the Senior Professional Division with Danny Mijovic (Kings Riding GC), Scott Spence (Lakes GC), and Ted Griffin (Woodland GC A) each with 34 points after two round. Keir Smith from the National Golf Club of Canada is one point back with 33 and John Rushnell from Oshawa GC has 32 points.

In the Ladies Division leading the way with 23 points are Meg Chapman from Georgian Bay GC, Andree Lapierre from London Hunt Club and Jen Jaszek from Hi 5 Golf. Ann Carroll from Lambton Golf and Peggy Stevens from Mid Ocean Club both have 16 points.

 

Teams GROSS

The National Golf Club of Canada “B” team has a 3 shot lead over Port Royal Golf Club and Riverside Golf Club in the Junior Team Division. National Golf Club has a two day of 131 while Port Royal and Riverside have 134.

In the Senior Team division, past champions, Hi 5 Golf have a two day total of 126, 3 shots clear of nearest rivals Belfair Plantation GC with 3 more teams fighting their way back on 131.

Mid Ocean Ladies have the half way lead with a two day total of 143. They are only one shot ahead of visiting Georgian Bay Golf Club and 4 shots clear of the ladies from Riddell’s Bay.

 

Teams NET

After two days of play National Golf Club of Canada “B” are also leading in the Junior Net Division by one shot over the local team from Riddell’s Bay GC. Riverside Golf Club after two days have a total of 124.

Like the Junior Division, Seniors from Hi 5 Golf are also leading in the NET division over Bellewood Golf Club with two day totals of 112 and 115 respectively.

Georgian Bay GC ladies are leading the NET division with 126 over the Hi 5 Golf Ladies who have 130. In third place are the local ladies from Riddell’s Bay with a two day total of 131.

 

There are two days of golf left and good weather in the forecast, so the leaders are going to have to continue to play well in order to hold off those teams who are only a few shots back at this point and have the abilities to catch up.

Play will resume on Thursday morning with the final round on Friday morning.
