Just before noon, an altercation broke out between a few non-Bermuda College students who were on campus taking their GED examination. Bermuda College is a testing centre for the GED. Police were already on site as a proactive precaution to assist in security patrols at Brock Hall where the exam was being held. Four persons have now been apprehended by police as a result of the incident. The altercation took place just outside the Student Hall where students were taking a break after completing the first module. There were approximately 70 students sitting the exam with six invigilators present. The GED exams will continue on Wednesday with increased security on campus.
Bermuda College students were elsewhere on campus sitting their own final exams and were not in danger or involved. The College is grateful for the presence and quick action of the police and College security officers.
Around 11:55am on Tuesday, December 10th police officers responded to a dispute at the Bermuda College campus in Paget.
Details remain unclear at this time; however it appears that the dispute occurred between persons attending that location for GED examinations.
Two 17 year old Sandys parish males and two 18 year old Warwick males were arrested in connection with this incident. They remain in police custody pending further inquiries.
Initial information does not suggest that this dispute was gang related; however that possibility cannot be ruled out.
Any witnesses are encouraged to contact the main police telephone number on 295-0011.
