The Flying Colours Fat Tire Massive Race series saw 101 out of 148 registered racers turn up to do battle in Race 2 at Casemates — with Neil De Ste Croix claiming victory in the Male category.

The field took to the long flat straights overlooking the boat yards, clock tower and the many restaurants located around the area.

As well as high speed straights, racers also had to contend with tight narrow doorways while racing though the buildings of Casemate’s Prison. As predicted, the less trail-seasoned road racers were able to pick up a few positions and points on the relatively smooth flowing 1.8 mile course.

The next race really starts to amp up skill levels and fitness. On December 15, the Flying Colours race series takes over (for at least the morning) Admiralty House, located in Pembroke. With what feels like never-ending up hill ascents and super fast descents, it really does push the rider and the bike to their limits.
