A 33-year-old man today denied stealing cheques and cashing them to buy groceries.
Jahmeco Blakeney of Smith’s pleaded not guilty in Magistrates' Court to stealing 15 HSBC cheques belonging to Wesley Kennedy on an unknown date between September and November 30.
He also denied three counts of dishonestly receiving stolen cheques belonging to Mr Kennedy.
Mr Blakeney is further charged with cashing a second cheque on October 28 for $300 and dishonestly receiving $144 in groceries at Shopping Centre on the same date.
There are a number of defendants facing similar charges relating to cheques belonging to Mr Kennedy.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner adjourned the matter to February 11 to join Mr Blakeney’s matter with the other defendant’s.
He was remanded until them.
