Nahki Wells was on fire again at the weekend, scoring his 14th of the season in Bradford’s hard-fought 1-1 draw at Oldham.
Wells had already hit the crossbar before he made the most of Garry Thompson’s low cross, smashing the ball into the roof of the net to open the scoring in the League One encounter.
Oldham, though, proved a tough nut to crack, and Jonson Clarke-Harris responded almost immediately with the equalizer at Boundary Park.
The Bantams pushed hard for a winner and Wells was denied a late penalty after he was challenged in the box — much to his manager Phil Parkinson’s frustration having seen two earlier two appeals for fouls on Kyel Reid turned down.
Parkinson told the Bradford Telegraph & Argus: “To have three clear-cut, in our eyes, shouts for penalties and not get one of them is disappointing.
“Reidy said both on him were pens in his eyes. He doesn’t dive. The one when he got booked against Wolves was absolutely ridiculous and I thought one of those yesterday had to be given.
"And the Nahki Wells one was a definite penalty. We had the best view of it and I’ll never know how the linesman didn’t give that.”
Wells, 23, has been in scintillating form this season, shrugging off a spell out injured to carry on his goalscoring exploits. His goal tally has come in just 17 appearances this season, having been top scorer last campaign with 26.
Meanwhile, the striker on Monday was named League One Player of the Month for November — recognition for a superb month that included a hat-trick against Coventry City in the teams' 3-3 draw.
