There is a whole mix of fun events taking place over the Labour Day weekend to keep friends and family alike fully entertained. From a soca cruise aboard UberVida and a reggae concert in Victoria Park to the Sandsculpting Competition at Horseshoe Bay and Moonlight Movies under the stars at the Botanical Gardens.

BERMUDA NATIONAL GALLERY
August 30 — The last opportunity to see the Eyes on the World in partnership with the Alexia Foundation; Women Artists in the Bermuda National Gallery Collection; Impressions of Bermuda. BNG closed until September 13 for exhibition change.
Friday, September 13 — New York based artist, Sanford Biggers will discuss his work from the past two years. Over that time his solo exhibitions have included Sweet Funk: An introspective at the Brooklyn Museum of Art (NYC), The Cartographer’s Conundrum at Mass MoCA (North Adams), Codex at the Ringling Museum (Sarasota), Sugar, Pork, Bourbon at Massimo De Carlo Gallery (Main), and Ago at Monique Meloche (Chicago). MOONLIGHT MOVIES
Aug 30 & 31 - Enjoy a magical evening in the trees under the stars watching good movies in the Botanical Gardens. The Department of Parks and Moonlight Movies Series teams up for Movies in the Park.
Each night starts at 6pm with DJ music, fun competitions, free giveaways, food vendors, snack vendors, popocorn and cool drinks along with slides, rides and toys in kiddie land.
Then, once the sun goes down movie lovers of all ages will be treated to double features and surround sound on the big screen each night under the stars. On Friday Epic (PG) screens at 8:30pm followed by the late feature Oblivion (PG-13) at 10:30pm while on Saturday Frankenweenie (PG) screens at 8:30pm followed by The Great Gatsby (PG-13) at 10:30pm. Admission is free.

September 1 - Summer’s still clinging on so why not hop aboard the UberVida for the last in the Summer Soca Cruise series. Celebrating D’General’s birthday the cruise leaves #1 Car Park at 6pm and returns at 9pm with music by DeForest Evans, New Era and Rusty G. Tickets are $20 from Kit ‘n’ Caboodle only. GAMING FOR CHANGE
September 20 - CB Market Solutions in cooperation with the Bermuda Autism Support & Education Foundation (BASE) will be hosting a casino-styled fundraiser call 747-8281 for location. will be emceed by popular radio personality Bootsie of Magic 102.7’s Bootsie’s Morning Show. The evening will consist of dinner, music and several casino-style games. Proceeds will benefit the BASE Foundation and will be used to support the local education of autistic children through the funding of proper equipment, supplies and training. LENNON BERMUDA PEACE CONCERT
September 21
- This year’s event will pay hommage to The Beatles and Bob Marley with tribute acts The Fab Faux and The Splash Band headlining. Hosted by funnyman Jimmy Keys. Freisenbruch Brannon Media will present the 2nd Annual Lennon Bermuda Peace Day Concert in the Bermuda Botanical Gardens. “This year’s concert will be as exciting as the first” say organizers. Last year’s charity concert raised close to $100k and this year we hope to do even better with your support. Tickets for this year’s event are available from www.ptix.bm. SUPER SATURDAYS
Ongoing - Super Saturday is held on the last Saturday of every month at Masterworks (pictured) from 10am — 2pm. Art-related activities include many themed projects according to the season. Call 299-4000. Free admission.
There is also a Tiny Tots Programme for babies and toddlers on Wednesdays from 10am to 11:30am with storytime, free play and arts and crafts. Cost is $7 for members, $10 for non-members.

SUMMER SUNDAYS
September 1 - There will be lots for the family to do at the City of Hamilton’s Reggae Vibes concert at Victoria Park from 3pm to 8pm. As well as live music from Missian, Conscious Bermuda, Soul Surreal, DIA there will be a kids’ area with fun castles, face-painting, cotton candy, and popcorn. Event is free & hosted by Power Girl.
SATURDAY STORYTIME
Every Saturday until December 17 - For ages three and over storytime includes reading exciting stories, crafts and much more. Starts at 10:30am. National Library.
SAND SCULPTURE COMPETITION
Aug 31 - The annual Sand Sculpting competition is back and includes five categories — Families; Children 12 and under; Teenagers 13 to 19; Open/Company/Organization; Tourist. This is the 18th annual competition. Enter via email at [email protected].
