How the threshing floor made David see the light

Anointed. Appointed. A super example of praise, worship, and outright adoration towards God.

That was David.  Yet, David sinned; King David missed the mark.

What is worse than missing the mark?

It is knowing that you missed the mark (sinned against God) and doing nothing to regain your place and position in God.

My goodness. If you fall or fail, recognize it and then move back to the place where you knew you were God’s beloved.

God wants you back, and so there is always a step of obedience that will return you to the place where God is.

1 Chronicles 21:16 Then the angel of the Lord commanded God to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the Lord in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

How will David find His way back to God?  He will have to become a witness to God and others that he is after the presence and the heart of God once again.

David will have to prove to God that he is worthy to be a king and a fatherly covering over God’s people.

God, the Father, must prove and reprove that King David can be a father to his people. What did God show David and where did God take David?

God instructed David to go to Ornan’s threshing floor. That is where Ornan, a father, had been working with his sons. Ornan, had not instructed his sons to work.

He had worked with them, showing them how to do the job.

God showed David a picture of what he had neglected to do.

David did not go to the battle with his soldiers (sons). Rather, he stayed at home while the battle raged. That was unacceptable in God’s sight.

So, at the threshing floor, David would see and then experience something.

David would experience separation at the threshing floor. He was already separated from God and was not comfortable about that.

Now, David would have to separate his will from God’s will and choose God’s way over his own way.

1 Chronicles 21:22 Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshing floor, that I may build an altar therein unto the Lord: thou shalt grant it me for the full price:that the plague may be stayed from the people.

David’s focus was no longer his own comfort, but the plight of the people he was to oversee.

David understood that he was going to pay the full price, whatever it cost, in order to one more time be worthy to stand as an intercessor for the people.

For a leadership whose heart is sincere towards repentance, God will make a way whereby the land can return to being Jerusalem, the city of ‘peace’.

If leaders are willing to pay the full price of separation or sanctification, then God will turn away the plague.

In a time of economic stress, the focus is certainly and understandably on money.

Once again, violence is seeking to rear its ugly head through weapons of warfare.

There is much that wants to destroy this land.

I believe that until the leaders of all organizations turn their hearts and heads back to God, the struggle will continue.

I also believe that when leaders of organizations turn and sanctify themselves towards God, God will heal the land. Selah.

Respice finem.
