Members of the public will already be aware of a shooting incident that occurred at a residence on Alexandra Road, Devonshire at about 9:40pm on Friday 23rd August, 2013.
A 25 year old male from Devonshire Parish was shot in his shoulder at this location.
Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit are actively following up on the evidence in this matter, and speaking with witnesses.
We cannot rule out that this incident is related to gang activity, and as such we want to the public to understand that we do not believe this to be a random shooting.
Our Community Action Teams (CAT) are also working in this area to speak with area residents, and reassure them that the Bermuda Police Service is pursuing this matter aggressively, to bring the offender or offenders to justice.
The victim is recovering from his injuries in the hospital and assisting Detectives.
We are keen to speak with anyone that may have seen the suspect or suspects in the vicinity at the time of the shooting. The suspect may have been riding a dark coloured or black scooter motorcycle, and left Alexandra Road, exiting onto Middle Road at the FORT HILL (ZBM) junction.
I am appealing for anyone that saw this incident or can provide information that can assist in identifying and bringing the offender or offenders to justice, to contact Detectives from the Serious Crime Unit.
The Serious Crime Unit can be contacted on 247-1739 or on the CONFIDENTIAL & independent CRIMESTOPPERS hotline 800-8477 (TIPS).
