Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a TV spin-off from Marvel’s recent Avengers movie, debuts on ABC on Tuesday, September 24. It will follow a back-from-the-dead Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team and the challenges they face as superhumans around the world start to reveal themselves. The series is created by Avengers’ director and geek-beloved Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse). This is the kind of news which makes guys like me start talking all high-pitched.
With DC-inspired Arrow returning to The CW for its second season on Wednesday, October 9, that’s two nights of the week when I’ll have to mop the geek-drool off the floor.
A comic-book movie I’m really excited about, but will have to wait a year for, is Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s another Marvel romp, and I actually don’t know much about the characters apart from one… Rocket Raccoon. I haven’t read his stories since the ‘80s, but let me explain… He’s a raccoon. With laser pistols. Who can fly starships. And loves really, REALLY big guns. And he’s got roller skates... what, you need more?
With the wild popularity of the ‘Bermuda Established’ hoodie, one may find a gloriously geeky counterpart in the Iron Man hoodie on www.thinkgeek.com (pictured). However, I’m hoping my beautiful wife will notice the Leonardo da Vinci-inspired Vitruvian Optimus Prime T-shirt on the same site. Christmas, darling?
