MAWI outpatient has charges dropped

A Warwick man today had trespassing charges against him dismissed.

Richard Weller, 54 denied attending Ice Queen on June 8, the land of Lee White, without permission and disobeying a written notice forbidding him to go on the property.

The court heard Mr Weller is an outpatient at the Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute and wasn’t aware of the letter banning him from the premises.

Crown counsel Susan Mulligan told the court the letter had been sent to Mr Weller’s home, but he said he wasn’t aware of it.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner said in the circumstances, he would dismiss the charges and gave Mr Weller and absolute discharge.
