Nahki Wells wasted no time in opening his goal account in League One after finding the net during Bradford City’s 2-2 draw with Bristol City at the weekend.

The Bermuda striker, the Bantam’s leading goalscorer last term, finished coolly in the 33rd minute after a fine run from fellow front man James Hanson, who took it around the keeper before squaring for Wells to tuck home.

It cancelled out Scott Wagstaff’s opener for Bristol City, who were playing their first league game since being relegated from the Championship.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas put the home side back into the lead and newly-promoted Bradford had to rely on an 84th-minute header from Rory McArdle to claim a deserved point.

City boss Phil Parkinson praised his front pair’s combination for the team's first equaliser.

“It was tremendous play from James,” he told the Telegraph & Argus. “He showed what he’s all about with his running power initially and then his composure.

“When you get in those situations, the good players produce a key pass and he did that. Nahki’s got calmness in front of goal and you always believe the net will be bulging when he gets there.”
