Scott Barnes swept all three 125cc shifter races to move into a first place tie with Stephen Corrado at the Bermuda Motorsports Park as the karting season heads into the home stretch.

It was a case of déjà vu for all three races as Barnes brought down the chequered flag three times with Corrado second and John Carreiro Jr snagging the other podium spot.

Shannon Caisey had two thirds and a sixth to finish fourth on the afternoon.

Both Barnes and Corrado have 861 points while Caisey (516 points) is battling Devon Durrant (489 points) for third overall.

In the Touch And Go (TAG) Class, all six drivers had podium finishes.

David Barbosa won the first heat followed by Corrado and Patrick Ingham. It was then Ingham’s turn to win a heat followed by Corrado and Amber Lopes. The double-points final heat saw Barnes take the title with Jason ‘Skuzzie’ North and Corrado right behind him.

The end result saw Barnes as the top karter on the day with 65 points, but the points spread from first to sixth was a mere 15.

Barnes leads Barbosa by 47 points for the overall title with Stephan Corrado just 59 points behind Barbosa.

Racing was fierce in the Junior Stock Clone Class for 10 to 15 year olds as Owen DeCosta and Blake Horseman swapping the top spot. DeCosta won the first and third heats while Horseman won the second race. Ryan Lopes and Corey Lewis also had a nice day with each of them placing second and finishing third.

Horseman (803 points) and DeCosta (753) are the top drivers on the season, but Lewis (714) isn’t too far behind thanks to his consistent performances.

The next scheduled race day is Sunday, May 5 and the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club will also be taking to the track that afternoon.
