Jah-Nhai Perinchief and Faheemah ‘Kyrah’ Scraders have been selected to represent Bermuda at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, from August 16-28.
The pair — Perinchief in the high jump and Scraders in the 800m — will represent the Americas region against Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania.
Perinchief is one of only four from the region selected in his event, while Scraders is one of only three in her discipline.
The Carifta Games acted as the qualifying event for the Caribbean and Bermuda National Athletics Association president Donna Watson said in a press release: “This is fantastic for Bermuda, with our small team of 13 athletes and qualifying two athletes for this prestigious event and for them to represent the America’s region.”
