The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) has been active in our community for 135 years and Bermuda Day this year saw the BPS revitalize its participation in established Heritage Day events.
In an impressive result, PC Shannon Lawrence and PC Zoenique Williams respectively won the male and female categories of the Sinclair Packwood Memorial cycle race.
A total of 36 police personnel (officers, Reserves, cadets and support staff) took part in the Appleby Bermuda Half Marathon Derby, with PC Stephen Allen achieving 3rd place overall.
And thanks to PC Kim Spring and all of the volunteers (too many to mention) who committed over 100 hours to producing a traditional parade float the police entry in the Bermuda Day Parade was a success, earning 1st place for Best Government Department and the Reggie Ming Award for Most Beautiful float.
Commissioner of Police Michael DeSilva said – “Congratulations are in order for PC Shannon Lawrence and PC Zoenique Williams for their wins in the Sinclair Packwood Memorial cycle race.
Congratulations to PC Stephen Allen for taking 3rd place in the Bermuda Day Half Marathon Derby. Congratulations to PC Kim Spring for leading the police entry in the Bermuda Day Parade and taking 1st place for Best Government Department and the Reggie Ming Award for Most Beautiful float.
Congratulations to all BPS participants in the half marathon, the cycling race and the float entry.”
