An amateur author will launch a new book detailing his 96-year-old father’s adventures in the Royal Navy during World War Two.
Michael Pearman’s father, Edric, was a PO Coxswain based in St George’s while the conflict raged in the early 1940s.
The book is called ‘Socci’, which was the nickname given to Mr Pearman senior as a young boy growing up in the East End.
And the collection of short stories traces his childhood growing up on the water and his role in the Navy during the war.
Book launch
The launch will take place at People’s Pharmacy between 11am and 2pm tomorrow, Saturday.
Mr Pearman Jnr said: “The book has been a complete family project with over 40 illustrations and we feel both young and old will be able to relate to the stories.”
