Difficult to believe in Bermuda’s America's Cup bid
While locals are excited about Bermuda being in the running to host the 2017 America’s Cup challenge, not everyone across the club is a fan.
Sail-World.com said: “It is difficult to believe that the island would have sufficient infrastructure to be able to stage an America’s Cup.”
It added: “The clear preference of the Challengers is for San Francisco as a venue, which is also the home waters of Oracle Team USA and their club the Golden Gate Yacht Club.”
Sail World said only twice in America’s Cup 162-year history has the event not been sailed in the home waters of the defender. Once was when Switzerland was the Cup holder and the other was after a court battle.
