It is with great pleasure that Mount Saint Agnes Academy (MSA) celebrates the conclusion of its Capital Campaign, Investing Together for Tomorrow, having successfully raised over $5 Million throughout the past 6 ½ years in support of facility upgrades, staff professional development opportunities and the School’s endowment fund.

The success of the Capital Campaign was commemorated at a Cocktail Party on Friday evening with the unveiling of a specially designed plaque recognising all contributors.  Over 100 guests celebrated the achievement, including Donors, Members of the MSA Board of Governors, Administration and Staff Members, representatives of the Sisters of Charity, Alberta Education and also a selection of current students who assisted at the Event.

Garry Madeiros, Chairman of the Board of Governors and Capital Campaign Committee, states, “In 2006 when we commenced this journey with the Capital Campaign to raise $5 million dollars, we were full of hope that we would be successful, while realizing the immense challenge we were taking on. The total amount pledged was $5,281,698 and the amount of cash received was $5,129,448. This was a tremendous achievement and commitment by our donors, especially considering the economic challenges the Island has experienced over the last five years.”

“With these funds the school has been able to:

• Liquidate its debt

• Completely renovate the science lab and music room

• Create two multi-dimensional media labs

• Install a new fire alarm system and fire doors

• Completely upgrade and enhance its security and camera systems

• Replace 44 windows in the main corridors of the school

• Construct new girls and boys change rooms, complete with private showers and bathroom stalls, on the ground level of the gym

• Upgrade courtyard bathrooms

• Convert the old girls and boys changing rooms upstairs into a new Guidance Counselor’s office, a Meeting Room and a large multi-use room

• Construct two new bathrooms outside the balcony of the auditorium.

• Construct a ramp for wheelchair access to the auditorium; and

• Add one million dollars to the MSA Endowment Fund.

From the remaining funds, it is our intention this summer to renovate all of the girls and boys bathrooms throughout the School.”

“We are humbled by, and appreciative of, the confidence our donors had in MSA. Mere words cannot express our gratitude so hopefully the commemorative plaque, which was unveiled on Friday evening, is a further demonstration of our sincere thanks to their generosity.”

“Our Campaign's success, in addition to our generous donors, was also as a result of those individuals who organized and those who solicited. Hundreds of hours of time and talent were invested by members of the MSA family who saw the need, and were prepared to actively participate in achieving our goal. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank them for their love of MSA and their willingness to work for its betterment.”
