Two men appeared in Magistrates Court this morning charged with chopping a 15-year-old boy in the neck with a sword.
Brothers Derek Andre Weeks, 27 and Javon Deonville Weeks, 29 both of Hermitage Road, Devonshire are accused of unlawfully wounding the boy on March 8 in Devonshire.
They were also charged with having a bladed article in a public place, namely a long sword with a blade in excess of three inches.
Because the charges are indictable, both defendants were not required to enter pleas as the matters must be heard in the Supreme Court.
The court heard the boy's injuries included a six-inch wound to the left side of his neck and his left ring finger was chopped off.
Crown counsel Maria Sofianos told the court the incident was caught on CCTV.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner adjourned the matter to March 25 and granted both defendants $10,000 bail with one surety each.
Both defendants were represented by Craig Attridge.
