Our swimmers don’t call it ‘Death Camp’ for nothing.

Some of Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association’s most promising youngsters were last month put through their paces during a gruelling training camp in Florida.

This particular drill looked more like a scene from The World’s Strongest Man as Ferdinand Arnold, 16, dragged a vehicle along the road.

Overseeing the drill with his hand on the van is national coach Ben Smith, who explained to the Sun: ‘The purpose of pulling the van was adding weight to the crawling exercise, which works the strength of the legs, arms and back. It was also a challenge, which made it a great achievement when they completed it with their team-mates cheering them on.”
