Business briefs: BMA lists insurance registrations for May
Nine new companies were added to the rolls of the Bermuda Monetary Authority in May, including four Special Purpose Insurers.
The BMA reported that Pangaea Reinsurance IX, Ltd., Securis Re II Ltd., Aozora Re Ltd. And Securis Re V Ltd. all registered as SPIs in May.
Also incorporating in May were Delphis Ltd. (Class 1), Commonwealth Annuity and Life reinsurance Company Limited (Class 3A), Qatar reinsurance Company LLC (Class 3A), BTG Re Ltd. (Class 3B) and Ananke Re, Ltd, (Class 3).
A total of 14 insurance applications were looked at in May by the BMA with the nine above-mentioned companies approved, two were deferred and three were declined.
For 2014, 30 insurers and eight intermediaries have been approved. Nearly half the insurers (14) have been SPIs.
Bermuda Bliss
The premiere issue of Bermuda Bliss Magazine is expected to be online tomorrow. The magazine aims to be a “digital reflection of community trends in multiple facets of fashion, education, tourism and more”.

Ironshore
Kelly M. Marino has been named to the new position of vice president of Corporate Accounts at Ironshore.
Ms. Marino will work closely with Ironshore’s division leadership and regional executives, reporting to Joseph L. Boren, president of US Field Operations.
“Kelly’s new role will enable Ironshore to leverage existing relationships, as well as build upon insurance coverage opportunities, with a focus on meeting the complex and cross-divisional insurance needs of global corporate entities,” stated Mr. Boren. “We are pleased to have Kelly join our growing team of professionals.”
