A “We Love You, Dad” weekend of fun and men’s fashion is to take place this weekend.
Today there will be a Father’s Day Proclamation to be read on the steps of City Hall by Premier Michael Dunkley, called Encouraging Fathers and Man To Take Their Stand from 12:30-1:15pm to be broadcast live on FM 89 & Power 95.
Speakers include Apostle Jimmie Dinwiddie; Town Crier Ed Christopher; Mayor Graeme Outerbridge; Bishop Nicolas Dill; The Worshipful Juan Wolf; Dr Glenn Faries; Russ Ford; GSP Edward Durrant and then songs by Adrian Jones ad James Richardson.
Then on Sunday, a Salute To Fathers event is a major fashion and talent show fundraiser taking place at Willowbank Conference Centre in Sandys from 7pm. Profits go towards the Gina Spence Productions Champions Programme — the first of its kind for victims of gun violence and their families, which provides educational scholarships, school uniforms, counselling and healthy food items.
The event on Sunday will include an Awards Ceremony honoring local organizations that provide support and empowerment to fathers and young males, as well as The GSPIC Father of the Year 2014; a father and son fashion show; and a variety of fathers on stage performing with their children in dance, song, poetry and drama.
