Kryah Scraders did it again, picking up her second gold medal at the CAC Junior Championships in Mexico.

Scraders set a new personal best with a 58.55 in the 400m. Bermuda National Athletic Association president Donna Watson said on Facebook that Scraders gold in the 400 "totally surprised us". Scraders medal gave Bermuda four at these championships.

Ohn Saturday, igh jumper Jah-nhai Perinchief pushed Bermuda's tally to three medals with a bronze in the high jump with a cleared height of 2.02 metres.

On Friday, Kyrah ‘Special K’ Scraders continues to live up to her nickname as she struck gold. 

Scraders, a middle distance specialist, won gold in the 14 to 17-year-old Girls 800m Junior B Race. She crossed the line in 2:14.

Scraders is Bermuda’s Junior female Athlete of the Year.

Also on Friday, Kyle Webb claimed a podium finish when he won bronze in the Boys Under-20 100m final with a time of 10:55, which was just a fraction slower than his 10:54 he ran to qualify for the final. Jonathan Farina of Trinidad and Tobago brought glory to his nation by winning the 100m in 10:38 with Jamaica’s Edward Clarke second.

Shadow Sports Minister Michael Weeks paid tribute to the medal winners from the first day of the event.

Mr Weeks said in a statement: "The PLP extends warm congratulations to Kyrah Scraders and Kyle Webb for their outstanding performances at the CAC Junior Championships in Mexico. They and their teammates on the Bermuda team deserve our support and praise as they proudly represent Bermuda on the world stage."
