Paul Fenwick is our man in Brazil.
The 48-year-old, who works for Bermuda Police, is at the World Cup with his wife Becky — and they have been revelling in what Paul described as the ‘trip-of-a-lifetime’.
The last of their eight matches will be Brazil v Colombia in the last-eight on Friday.
Here’s his latest report back to the Sun, sent before the USA’s game yesterday: “We’re currently in Salvador ready for the Round of 16 games Belgium v USA.
“We were at the Holland v Mexico game yesterday at the Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza and it was an amazing game.
“Just when we were getting ready for extra time, Mexico blew up and gave away a penalty in the last minute. The Mexican fans are a crazy bunch and even though they lost, they were in great spirits as we left the ground.
“We also met a Hull City fan outside the stadium called Leandro, from Fortaleza. As a life-long Tigers fan myself, we chatted and took pictures and I’m going to send him a programme from the FA Cup Final. He’s over the moon!
“Still no problems whatsoever with flights, hotels, infrastructure, etc, and we’ve now experienced four cities in Fortaleza, Rio, Brasilia and now Salvador. All the scaremongering in the news before we came, as far as we are concerned, was just that. We will definitely be coming back to Brazil on vacation.
“The weather is still being very kind to us and it is still as hot as... well, it’s pretty hot! We have one last game to go and that will be Brazil v Colombia on Friday in Fortaleza and I can tell you, it’s the hottest ticket in town right now. We’ve met loads more really cool people from Bolivia, Brazil, Austria and all over the place and made new friends, who we will be keeping in touch with...and who knows, maybe even see again in four years’ time in Russia.
“In a word, Brazil and this World Cup ROCK!
