The air will soon be filled with the sweet sound of music as singers prepare to compete for the 2014 Bermuda Idol crown.

The annual talent showcase promises to be yet another fantastic opportunity for local singers to share their skills with their peers and fellow islanders at large.

Auditions for this year’s contest will be held between 12 noon and 3pm on Saturday, February 1 at HOTT 107.5 FM Radio Station.

This year’s contest will take pace at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for Performing Arts on Saturday, March 15 where local singers will compete for the $3,000 grand prize.

The contest is run by Inter-Island Communications — parent company of HOTT 107.5FM.

Managing director Gwen Blakeney said that the station has been receiving calls on a daily basis from people interested in auditioning for the competition which is open to all ages.

Get excited

She said: “We commenced promoting the invitation to audition on both HOTT and Magic 102.7FM on New Year’s Day, to get folks excited and to give potential contestants plenty of advance time to prepare for the auditions.”

Bermuda Idol has become one of the biggest local talent competitions on the island and it continues to grow. Thanks to sponsors there is a total of $6,000 in total prize money this year.

Blakeney added: “We are delighted to provide such a wonderful opportunity for those who feel they have the talent to compete.

“Any Bermudian or spouse of Bermudian is invited to audition, whether young or not so young, experienced or inexperienced, regardless of their background, feel free to step up and show your stuff during the February 1 auditions at HOTT.”

HOTT is located at 49 Union Square Mall, Hamilton.
