The team were off the past weekend, so the players got some much-needed rest.
We have three games coming up this weekend on Friday, Saturday and Sunday against Pennsylvania, Syracuse and Rochester respectively.
Two of the teams are not in the playoffs but Syracuse we may see again. The plan is to win all three and give some of our younger players more time on the field so we can prepare them for the playoffs.
Meanwhile, last weekend I was on a sports TV show in Baltimore talking about the team and the community work I am doing.
I enjoyed being able to express myself about the game, my country Bermuda and my life outside The Blast. The one thing I am mindful of with the media is that when things are going well they love you but slip up and they are the first to criticize.
For me it is all part of the game. If you are performing well or playing bad then expect to be covered. But if you decide you want the media to cover who you are because you may be starting outside businesses and need some advertising than do not complain if they creep into your personal life.
I have been very cautious on that front because I need my personal space for comfort. But when I was at the NFL event two weeks ago I experienced an uncomfortable moment.
I was with the NFL players getting ready for the celebrity bowling event and I had to use the restroom where, before you know it, there was a reporter with his camera behind me looking at me as if he was looking for a photo.
One may feel I was a little paranoid but this is what happens. I went into the closed stalls and called security just to make sure.
Protecting your integrity is important whether you’re a celebrity or not. It is important that on social media you portray yourself in a positive manner because when you enjoy greater success people will try to find out more about you. Protect yourself so in the long run you will be able to protect your brand.
Until next time.
