It was the number two most downloaded game in the iTunes store for free apps and has already spawned a legion of imitators. The game’s success is akin to Flappy Bird as there are now White Tile — Don’t Step On It; Don’t Tap the White Tile and Don’t Miss the Black Tile; and Don’t Step on the Grey Tile! Tap White as those trying to hop on the bandwagon.
The original game has three play modes: Classic, Arcade and Zen. The concept is the same in all three — tap the black tiles while avoiding the white ones.
In Classic, you see how fast you can tap the black tiles to reach the finish line. My personal best is 11.334 seconds so you can see it doesn’t take a great amount of time to play.
Arcade mode allows for a continuous flow of white and black tiles. Your job is to hit every black tile. Miss one or tap a white one and it’s game over.
In Zen, you have 30 seconds to tap as many black tiles as possible. It also has a leader board for each game so you can see how you stack up against the rest of the world. Apparently I stink, as the fastest time in Classic is 1.068 seconds. My time rates only the 2,868001 best in the world.
Like the game 2048, it is worth downloading but it probably won’t be one you’re playing a month from now.
