The Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club is delighted to be hosting the 2014 O’pen Bic North American Championships, which starts tomorrow and runs until Sunday.
The club will welcome young sailors from Hawai’i, Continental U.S. and France to join our own competitors in Bermuda.
The 35-strong fleet will be racing in the waters of Hamilton Harbour and The Great Sound.
Vice Commodore of the RHADC Neil Redburn said in a press release: “The design of the O’pen Bic gives young sailors a true glide machine for real excitement on the water.
“The boat is made of durable materials with handles moulded into the design.
“It is self-draining and simple to rig, in fact it can be rigged in about two minutes.
The aim of the O’Pen Bic is to energise sailing providing both serious and fun components.
“Many of the sailors and their families will be visiting Bermuda for the first time, and we are excited to be extending our hospitality to them with a number of activities planned at R.H.A.D.C.”
The R.H.A.D.C would like to thank sponsors Arch Re, Bermuda Tourism Authority, BCL, Bermuda Forwarders, Tidal Asset Management and Isolated Surfboards without whom this would not have been possible.
