Women’s A League

Longtails A 3-4 Budgies A

Budgies’ Francesca Cacace was in good form, executing a penalty stroke in the 33rd minute and scoring field goals in the 43rd and 53rd minute.

Longtails hit back through Selina Whitter and two for Maya Palacio.

However, the decisive goal arrived from Budgies’ Katelyn Miller.

Women’s B League

Bluebirds 1-1 Ravens

After a closely-fought first 20 minutes, a Bluebirds long-corner pass by Jo-Ann Smith found Jill Finnigan, who laid it off back to Smith and she fired in from a tight angle.

The Ravens had to wait until the second half to draw level. Even with continued action from Ravens’ Alex Wheatley, Megan Troake and Ana Abend, Bluebirds’ strong defence couldn’t be penetrated.

But from a short corner Megan Troake scored on a reverse pass between keeper Johnston’s legs to even the game up in the 67th minute.

With seconds to go, Troake almost won it when her strike at goal was stopped, while her second attempt was saved by keeper Johnston, to the relief of Bluebirds.

Budgies B 2-3 Ravens

Ravens’ goalscorers were Carolyn Soares, Ana Abend and Alex Wheatley in a winning effort.

For Budgies, Francesca Cacace and Jaselle Smith were on target.

Canaries 2-2 Swallows

Swallows’ Elizabeth Stewart scored field goals in the 44th and 57th minute.

But back came Canaries and they clained a draw thanks to Kirstie Jones and Grace Edy.

Longtails 1-2 Wildcats

For some of the Longtails, this would be their second game of the day. And they got off to a bad start.

Wildcats’ Suzanne Moniz collected a long ball, driving it into the circle and firing it home into the top right corner from the penalty spot in the 14th minute.

In the second half Longtails were awarded a penalty corner and Selina Whitter pushed the ball out to Rebecca Gibbons at the top.

She slipped it to McKenzie Farquan and then to Maha Clarke, who scored near the right corner in the 38th minute to level things up.

The winner came when Wildcats’ Pier Simons collected a ball in the circle and scored a field goal from a rebound off the Longtails’ keepers pads into an empty goal.
