PHC will host a family fun day on Good Friday as part of their Going Home fundraising initiative.
The event will be held on PHC’s field in Warwick and will feature various activities for the whole family, including a sumo wrestling match between two MPs.
PHC president Jonathan Ball said: “The idea came about after recent discussions amongst the PHC executive on how to fulfill our mandate of engaging the community.
“Many people consider PHC to only be a football club, but in reality, we are so much more.
“PHC engages the community in a variety of ways and the Community Fun Day is just another piece of the puzzle.
“The Warwick community and the island as a whole need a strong and vibrant PHC. The PHC executive and our numerous volunteers work tirelessly to ensure we continue to have a positive impact in our community.”
Ball said events will be held all day starting with a one mile run/walk from Lindo’s to PHC field.
“Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female runners in the following categories — primary, middle and senior school.
“We will also have a category for adults and masters — over 50. PHC will make a donation of $150 to the PE department of the school with the most entrants, a minimum of ten.
“Registration forms and the drop box for the PHC fun run/walk are available at the Sports Seller in Washington Mall.
“For convenience, you can also register online at www.racedayworld.com."
Ball said the community day will begin at 10am.
“The highlight of the day will be a sumo-wrestling competition between the Minister of Community, Culture and Sports Wayne Scott and the Shadow Minister of Transport Lawrence Scott-Scott vs Scott.
“In addition, PHC hopes to energize the community with a positive event that reflects Bermuda’s culture and traditions.”
Other activities include kite flying, football games, fun castle, tug of war, etc.
In addition to the activities, there will be fishcakes and BBQ by Smokin’ Barrell for sale. DJ Chubb of Vibe 103 will be on hand to play the hits.
