Meditation

Matthew 5: 14 – 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (v. 16).

I remember singing the well-known children’s Sunday school song This Little Light Of Mine.

 This children’s song tells how every believer should live. We should live our lives letting our light shine.

How do we let our lights shine? Our everyday actions, choices and attitudes show whether we are letting our light shine or not.

If the truth be told there are times (including myself) when we just don’t get it right.

Can I be real? We either say, think or act in a way that doesn’t show the light of Christ in us. Actions start out as a thought.

An encouraging word, a visit to someone who is lonely, sharing the Gospel, holding your peace, responding in faith, helping the needy, and more, are ways in letting our light shine.

Whether we know it or not when we let our light shine it encourages others to do so as well. We are being a blessing to others and showing God’s love.

 Fear and doubt will try to creep in and they will try to get us to hide it. If the devil can get us to be afraid to step out and get us to doubt who we are in Christ, then we begin to hide what is in us that God has given us.

We must let the world see it and be unashamed. We must come out from under what we are hiding under or what we are hiding from.

Be a witness, spread it and let it shine for all to see. Jesus is the light of the world. Let the One who lives in you shine through you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father let me be a light that shines even in darkness, that those that see it will glorify you. Let your light shine through me Lord even when it’s difficult or when I don’t understand what is going on around me. Lord I want to be a light that Satan can never blow out and that will continue to shine for you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
