The Bermuda National Athletics Association has announced its first cross country event will take place this coming Saturday at Chaplin Bay at 8:30pm.

The event will be hosted by West End Athletic Club. The first race will be the younger athletes and the second will feature the older ones.

BNAA president Donna Watson said: “We are hoping for a good turnout this weekend with the athletes getting a feel for where they are at this time of the season.

“We are also hoping to have more senior athletes participating in our cross country season, especially with Rose-Anna Hoey having such a successful season last year — she is also one of our regular participants in the series.

“I know that she has been promoting cross country and discussing the way it helped her to develop strength.

“As usual we should see several of our young athletes participating as they prepare for the track and field season. We are looking forward to a great year and we have a very busy year ahead of us.”
