A dog that ran away from home during last week’s stormy weather has turned up safe and well.
The Staffordshire bull terrier’s owner, Joe Simas, told the Bermuda Sun he was ‘overjoyed’ to have Apache back.
Mr Simas thanked the Bermuda Sun for posting news of his missing pet on our Facebook site as well as Bermuda’s Lost and Found site, which helped to locate the dog: “I really appreciate all the help I got getting her back. We have had her since she was a puppy – in fact she was around before I even married my wife eight years ago so she means a whole lot to me.
“Those nights when she was missing were terrible. I could not sleep and I would go out walking the neighbourhood shouting her name. I would even shout out her name when I went running too – people must have thought I was a bit strange.”
The devoted family dog escaped from her home on the North Shore last Tuesday before the incoming storm hit.
Soon afterwards she was picked up by an islander who was driving along North Shore who took the animal into her home. Apache was then returned to her owner on Tuesday.
Mr Simas added: “It was such a huge relief. I have my best friend back. I want to thanks everyone who helped finding her and all the media that put out appeals and adverts. My family is very pleased to have her back.”
