Sports shorts: Global boost for gymnasts

The Bermuda Gymnastics Association has been accepted into the USA Gymnastics Global Ambassador Programme.

The initiative is aimed at assisting up-and-coming gymnastics programmes around the world reach a higher level of international success.

The application had to include a detailed plan of how USA Gymnastics could assist the Bermuda programme, as well as demonstrate the island had the necessary infrastructure, athlete base, and passion already in place to do the work.

Bermuda’s first Global Ambassador initiative will be a training camp over the October mid-term break with USA National Team Coach Marvin Sharp, who has coached many elite athletes including world champion and Olympic medallist Bridget Sloan.
