As a way of assisting parents and teachers of Government Primary One students, the Bermuda Junior Service League has donated school supplies through its Stuff the Bus campaign. The objective of the campaign is to supply required school supplies to all Primary One students in the Government school system across the Island.
For the eleventh year running, the BJSL has purchased over 500 pencil cases and school supplies and donated them to all incoming P1 students at government schools.
BJSL members and the staff of Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty delivered the pencils cases to the Government Primary Schools across the Island during the second week of school.
The BJSL would like to thank Fidelity who is the key sponsor of the campaign. Their generous donation and staff members who stuff supplies in each case ensure the project is a success. We would also like to thank Bermuda Blueprinting our supplier.
Amy Adderley, the campaign coordinator, has received positive feedback from teachers and principals. “This is an amazing project and I was happy to act as chair again this year. The schools really appreciate receiving these necessary supplies each year. It is nice to welcome incoming students with their own supply case. I have received numerous calls and emails from teachers and principals confirming the importance of this project to their schools.”
The Bermuda Junior Service League is an organisation of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community in which we live.
“Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable and has been supporting the community since 1936,” Mrs. Adderley said.
The BJSL is actively expanding its membership and professional and non-professional women between the ages of 18 to 50 are welcome to join. Anyone with interest in joining can email the league at [email protected].
