Smith says sorry

Donal Smith yesterday apologized for the “pain” and “anguish” caused by his comments.

Mr Smith, who is off island on Corporation of Hamilton business, told Gary Moreno of ZBM News: “I have heard directly from my family members and friends who have impressed upon me the level of anguish and pain that my comments caused.

“To all those persons who were affected in this way, I would like to offer my apology.

“When I return [to Bermuda] I will speak with my constituents and hear their views on my comments.”

Mr Smith said he address calls for his resignation at another time.
