Reports of cyber crime are on the rise and Fifth Step Bermuda is launching a Cyber Security Risk Health Check today to help raise awareness and combat it.

It is free to Bermuda businesses of all sizes that wish to assess their exposure to cyber security risk.

The Fifth Step Bermuda team will be meeting with company chiefs over the coming months to raise awareness of cyber crime risks and how to reduce the exposure.

Darren Wray, Fifth Step London CEO, said in a press release: “Cyber security is a concern for many companies at this time. There have been a number of high profile incidents that have raised awareness, we fear that these could be the tip of the iceberg however, and that companies need to put measures in place to reduce their risk.”

“As corporate demand for employees using multiple devices to connect to company networks, as well as being linked into social and professional networking sites soars; so does corporate risk and exposure, which today is recognized as never having been so high,” says Mr Wray.

The results of the Fifth Step Bermuda Cyber Security Risk Health Check will be presented in a detailed report directly to the participating company individual.

The Fifth Step Bermuda Cyber Security Risk Health Check focuses on a number of key areas such as the Secure Configuration, Information Risk Management, User Account Management and Out of Office Working.

“The recently announced one-day seminar on financial crime and compliance at the Fairmont Southampton hotel in October is a reflection of just how critical cyber security is to corporations across Bermuda and the world” says Mr Wray.

Clinton

Larry Clinton, who is a leading US advisor on cyber crime and President of the trade association Internet Security Alliance, is scheduled to address the seminar with more than 200 Government officials and top financial decision-makers expected to attend.

Stephen Bull, who heads the Fifth Step Bermuda team, echoes Mr Wray’s comments: “We are delighted to be able to bring this product to our Bermuda clients.  “In this age of technology corporate entities can be targeted from anywhere around the globe; here in Bermuda we are just as exposed as the rest of the world. These criminals are clever and if our systems are left inadvertently unprotected and are monitored, a breach can go on undetected for extended periods.”
