Trucking company specializes in removals and relocations

A family trucking business is branching out into the shipping industry after building up years of experience in relocations.

Joe Vieira Trucking Ltd is to buy shares in BEST Shipping after working with the company to pack and unpack containers for international destinations.

The trucking firm started out 40 years ago, as Joe O Vieira Trucking & Landscaping.

It had one truck operated by Mr Vieira’s father, Joe, and then became Joe Vieira & Son Trucking when Mr Vieira Jr joined the family business. He then took it over in 1998.

The company now has seven employees and owns five general trucks plus a tractor trailer for container haulage. It operates island-wide from a yard in Smith’s.

Mr Vieira said: “We do general trucking, house moves and also work with BEST Shipping, doing full pack-ups and unpacks.

“If anyone is relocating to Bermuda we can unload your goods and set up your home.

“And if you are moving overseas, we can come to your house, wrap up your goods, pack the container and ship it out.

“We’ve even packed whole offices up and helped to ship them out of Bermuda.”

He added: “If you want to send smaller items overseas we can also organize that, in a container with BEST.

“We’ve been working with BEST for 15 years now, doing all their trucking, and are looking to buy shares in the company and to become an investor.”

Aside from the shipping side of the business, Mr Vieira said the trucking company can “do anything”.

“One minute we’ll be dealing with trees or trash, and the next, helping someone to move house. If you need it done we will get it done for you.

“Customers say we have a personable service and everyone likes the guys.

“People sometimes get flustered moving house so we do our best to ease the pressure and get you moving as quickly as we can.

“We are also used to packing and wrapping valuable goods — pianos, for example — so people can feel safe with their expensive items.”

Among the firm’s other services are machinery moves, trash removal, construction site deliveries, crane truck, bobcat and telescopic forklift work.
