BWS-BOSS has air, sea and express all wrapped up

Anyone importing or exporting goods can now get all the services they need under one roof.

Bermuda Worldwide Shipping (BWS) and Bermuda Ocean Shipping Services (BOSS) Ltd  offers a worldwide door-to-door shipping service by air and sea.

It also has an express air service, BDA Express, and an LIC (Local Inland Clearance) facility to speed up clients’ deliveries.

The two companies joined forces earlier this year to build on their experience in the shipping industry and to strengthen their services.

BOSS Ltd is a 30-year-old firm which specializes in ocean imports. BWS was founded in 2010 and specializes in sea and air shipping, imports and exports, and also runs BDA Express.

BWS-BOSS Ltd can be found at one central location, in Mill Reach Lane, Pembroke.

Roger Moniz, company president, said: “We decided to amalgamate this year, to make us stronger. Together, these two companies can handle anything.

“We also have an LIC facility which allows us to strip the containers before they go to HM Customs. This allows us to bring freight off the docks without the duty being applied to it first.

“Once the customer pays the duty they come to the warehouse and we release the goods.

“We can ship anything — whether it’s import or export, air or ocean, whether it’s an envelope to the contents of a whole house, we can do it.

“We can ship by ocean, air and courier to anywhere in the world.”

The company’s website states: “We specialize in export packing and shipping of all types of cargo, ranging from household goods and personal effects, fine works of art and antiques, to general cargo. Just name it and we can handle it.”

BWS-BOSS Ltd also has an international relocations service and can do custom crating.

BDA Express, in contrast, specializes in small packages.

“It’s an expedited air service, with the lowest rates on the island,” said Mr Moniz.

Steven Sousa, BWS-BOSS Ltd manager, said: “This service will handle anything urgent, from 1lb to 150lbs.

“It’s designed for small packages but is also very popular with people who order online, particularly if they are buying one item at a time, such as clothing.”

BWS-BOSS Ltd’s full services include: Ocean and air shipping of household goods and cargo; import/export services; relocations; packing/unpacking and custom crating; antique/fine arts packing; courier; Customs clearance; and door-to-door service. It also provides free estimates.

Full Container Load (FCL) and Less than Full Container Loads (LCL) ocean freight services are available to Bermuda on a weekly basis from the US, Canada and UK.

Ocean freight and cargo can be delivered to five different shipping agent addresses: Midway Ocean Agencies Inc. in Newark, New Jersey; BAT Transportation Inc. in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada; Econocaribe Consolidators in Miami, Florida; Key Air & Sea, in Middlesex, England; and BWS-BOSS Ltd itself at Gemini Warehouse in Jacksonville, Florida.

After you forward your invoices to the company it will handle all of your shipping.

BWS-BOSS Ltd’s Customs Brokerage department will also expedite the clearance process and arrange delivery for you.

Laura Blee, fellow manager, said: “The LIC is an advantage because if there’s one person who has a hiccup with their paperwork then that doesn’t mean everything else in that same container is held up.

“We have three main addresses we use for imports out of the US to Bermuda. They also have consolidations all over the world, so we can get something from pretty much anywhere.

“We have another Florida warehouse in Jacksonville where we receive freight. And the  warehouse in Newark, New Jersey, can receive freight from anywhere.

“We can also accept freight which needs to be air-freighted or expressed there, so that’s our big hub.”

Ms Blee said the new Pembroke location for BWS-BOSS Ltd had allowed the companies to cut down on overheads from four former locations.

BOSS Ltd used to have an office in Reid Street, Hamilton, and a warehouse in Harvey Road, Paget. BWS previously had an office in Reid Street, Hamilton, and a warehouse in Smith’s parish.

“Now everything is in-house and is more convenient for customers,” she said.

“The Customs clearance staff, warehouse staff and office staff are all in one place.

“This offers customers a complete service. There’s no need for clients to have to get their paperwork in one place and then go to another in order to pick up their goods.

“We also offer a delivery service. There’s nothing we won’t be able to do — we will always find a way to handle it for you.”
