Express spa treatments for those on the go

La Serena, award-winning spa at The Reefs has expanded into Hamilton where it will offer clients express treatments. 

La Serena Express is located on the third floor of AS Cooper’s and opens on Tuesday, September 10. 

Treatments will be available in  45 and 30 minute sessions, and include facials, waxing and nail services. 

Helen Bryan, spa manager, said the expansion will offer clients a limited menu of treatments without having to drive to Southampton for the La Serena experience.  

“Basically what we’re doing is offering express services so you get the results as you would from our spa treatments without the frills. 

“You can go on the lunch break and get your services done.”

Asked where the idea came from, Ms Bryan said: “It was my idea to expand. I worked with AS Cooper’s last Christmas and the one before. 

“From that, I came up with this idea of how cool would it be if we were permanently in the city. 

“I asked them if they would consider it and they said yes. 

“Cooper’s worked really hard to find us a space. We ended up on the third floor.”

Ms Bryan said the express spa is based in an enclosed treatment room, which is bigger than the average. 

It is decorated to match the treatment rooms at La Serena and even has a harbour view. La Serena has views of the South Shore. 

Ms Bryan said the word is out that La Serena will be expanding as she has been doing interviews on Mix 106 and staff members have told their clients. 

“La Serena is really popular. Common complaints are ‘I just need my brows waxed’ or ‘I need my polish changed but I don’t want to drive that far’. 

“So, we’re bringing it all to you. 

One new treatment is bliss waxing, which is only available at La Serena or La Serena express. 

“It’s almost pain-free waxing. It’s not just about the waxing, it’s also about how you prepare the skin. 

“It only adheres to the hair, not the skin so it’s just pulling on the hair. You feel a pinch but it’s not painful. Compared to regular waxing, it’s very good.”

There will be one full-time therapist at La Serena Express and a part-time therapist on the weekend. 

The spa will be open from 10am to 6pm on Monday to Saturday and 1pm to 5pm on Sundays, coinciding with AS Cooper’s hours. 

In addition to spa services, gift certificates will be available for purchase and the Elemis line of products used by La Serena is available in the cosmetic section of AS Coopers.
