The fifth annual ‘Kicks for Cancer’ campaign hosted by the North Village Community Club comes to a close this weekend.
The final game will be played on Sunday at Bernard’s Park in the club’s quest to raise money for cancer research.
Stephen Coddington, president of the club said: “Breast cancer is an issue that touches nearly everyone – we all know someone who has been affected.
“We’re inviting the community to join us in our support of Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre’s critical initiatives in the fight against breast cancer by joining us this Sunday for a family fun day and what promises to be a great game”.
The Kicks for Cancer campaign was expanded this year to include the youth programme.
Children from the under ten and under eight teams will be wearing pink jerseys and will escort the premier players on to the field.
At half time, they will take penalty shots on the team’s new mascot. North Village is currently running a “Name the Mascot” contest on its Facebook Page, NVCC Bermuda.
At the end of the game representatives from North Village and Freisenbruch Meyer will present a cheque to Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre for all the goals that were scored during the month of October.
North Village will take on Devonshire Cougars at 3pm. Freisenbruch Meyer Group has committed to donating $200 for every North Village goal scored during this game.
Freisenbruch Meyer Group had pledged to donate $100 per goal, per game for the month.
The first game will be held at 12:30pm with Social Club vs Robin Hood.
