Third straight T20 defeat for Bermuda
Bermuda’s batsmen were nullified again by USA in the teams' final Twenty20 game in Florida yesterday.
For the third straight game at Brian Picollo Park in Fort Lauderdale, the tourists struggled for runs and suffered their third defeat in three days against the home side.
The USA batted first and put on 138 for seven thanks largely to a 55 off 45 balls — which included two fours and two sixes – from Japen Patel.
K Bashir claimed two wickets but was expensive (two for 37 off four overs), while the other wickets were shared around with Derrick Brangman, Jacobi Robinson, captain Janeiro Tucker and Malachi Jones all claiming a wicket. Robinson (one for 19) and Tucker (one for 22) were the most economical.
In reply, opener Chris Douglas was positive and scored 30 off 28 balls, including one six, but just two other batsmen reached double figures (Tucker 10 and Robinson 17) as Bermuda were all out for 108.
The games formed part of Bermuda’s preparations for the World Twenty20 qualifiers in Dubai from November 15. The squad flies out a week before and have scheduled warm-up matches before the action gets under way for real in the UAE.
