What happens when you have a tattoo shop in Harlem, a laidback owner, his feisty girlfriend and enough drama to last a lifetime?

Welcome to Black Ink, a Harlem-based tattoo shop.

The show features owner Ceaser, his girlfriend and fellow tattoo artist Dutchess, assistant manager Ted, tattoo artist O’S**t, and previous managers Sassy, Walt, Puma and Alex.

The second season premiered last month and features a shift in the shop. Last season, Dutchess and Ceaser got together and everyone in the shop got along very well, aside from Alex and her drama.

This season, viewers see how Dutchess and Ceaser’s relationship has taken over the shop. If Dutchess doesn’t like you, you are gone. If Dutchess thinks you are doing a bad job, you are gone.

Dutchess claims she and Ceasar are partners — both in business and love, but what she fails to realise is that the shop belongs to Ceaser, not her.

Dutchess seems to want heads to roll. In Sunday night’s episode said she said: “If you ain’t an asset, you’re a liability”.

Everybody better watch their backs as Dutchess is on the loose.

Black Ink is in its second season and airs on Monday nights on VH1.

Knife Fight is another reality programme I enjoy watching. It is a cooking competition on the newly launched Esquire Network.

The show is hosted by Top Chef Season Two winner IIan Hall and is set in his restaurant, The Gorbals in downtown Los Angeles.

Knife Fight happens in the overnight hours when the restaurant is closed to the public, yet has a large crowd to witness the action.

This kind of cooking competition has not been televised, until now. The crowd is usually made up of celebrities, restaurant critics and die-hard foodies.

The chefs are given three random ingredients, such as pig heads, jackfruit and live catfish and must prepare three dishes in an hour.

If you can’t stand the heat, get out the kitchen!

Knife Fight airs on Tuesday on Esquire Network.
