Pets and their people will be flocking to the Botanical Gardens next Saturday (October 12) for the annual SPCA Expo and Fair.

There will be lots of food for sale and fun for all ages, including a cat show, kids’ games and the ever-popular White Elephant sale.

It will also be a great opportunity to learn about animal welfare and how you can help protect animals in Bermuda.

A variety of exciting events will be taking place in the show ring, including a Parade of Breeds by the Bermuda Kennel Club, a dog agility demonstration by the Dog Training Club of Bermuda, and a demonstration by the Working Dog Club.

There will also be a pet parade, which is open to the public for an entry donation of $10. Entry forms are available from www.spca.bm

Children will also be treated to a special story hour from 1-2 pm, hosted by The Reading Clinic.

Sara Corday, Bermuda SPCA spokeswoman, said: “We are hoping that the weather is great and we get a really good turnout this year.

“Our Expo is always a popular event, and it is a great opportunity for animal lovers to get together, have some fun and help the efforts of the SPCA at the same time.

“It is one of our biggest fundraisers and we really rely on the money raised to help us fulfill our mission each day of the year.”

Admission to the Expo is free, although donations of a can or two of dog or cat food is appreciated.

Enter through the Berry Hill Road entrance to the Botanical Gardens. Parking is $4 per car.

We are still taking donations for the White Elephant Stall, and welcome all sorts of gently-used household goods.

We cannot accept large appliances or furniture, clothing or computers.

Donations can be dropped off at the SPCA shelter on Valley Road, Paget, until 4pm on Thursday.
