Bermuda’s hopes of reaching the World Twenty20 finals are over after a 21-run qualifying defeat to Nepal in Dubai today.
The loss leaves them two points off fifth-place Scotland, who are in Group B’s final qualifying spot for the next round of games, but with a much inferior net run rate. Scotland play the group’s bottom team Denmark on Sunday, while Bermuda take on Papua New Guinea in their final game.
Nepal posted 148 for eight off their 20 overs this morning, with Malachi Jones the pick of the bowlers with two for 18 off four overs. Dion Stovell also impressed with one for 27 off his four.
In reply, Bermuda’s top order again failed to deliver, with Stovell, Kwame Tucker, Lionel Cann and David Hemp all going cheaply as they slumped to 15 for four.
Skipper Janeiro Tucker did his best to drag his team up to the total with 48 but, despite 19 from Tre Manders and 14 from Allan Douglas, Bermuda were all out for 127 to suffer their fourth-straight defeat.
