The Voice is so exciting this year thanks to Tessanne Chin.

For those who know reggae music, Tessanne is a familiar name. She had a few songs out a few years ago, but struggled to breakout.

Her sister Tami Chynn is the bigger star in Jamaica out of the two.

But now Tessanne has one upped her by appearing on season five of The Voice. At the beginning of the season, the audience learned it was her manager, reggae star Shaggy, who encouraged her to audition for the popular show.

In her audition, Tessanne snagged Pink’s ‘Try’ and for lack of a better word, killed it. All four judges’ chairs turned around for Tessanne, and in the end, she picked Adam Levine as her coach.

The reggae-fusion artist has been churning out top notch performances week after week and making it look easy. She commands the stage and owns it every time she steps out to perform.

So it’s easy to see why she is the favourite to win this year.

Here are four reasons why I think Tessanne will win this year.

1. She is a pro. Tessanne has been performing since she was six years old and has toured with Jimmy Cliff. She has also opened for a number of artists including Patti LaBelle. Yes, she may have been a professional singer in Jamaica giving her an upper hand, but now it’s her time for the world to take notice.

2. Her look. I don’t think Tessanne is necessarily a beautiful woman, but she has this exotic look going on that makes her stand out. Her father is Chinese Jamaican and her mother is British black. That makes for a very unique look.

3. She’s unique. Tessanne has to be the most unique person on this whole show. She has shown week after week that she isn’t just a reggae singer. Yes, Tessanne can get up and dee-jay like the many artists in Jamaica, but she also has powerhouse vocals that put her at the front of the pack.

4. Everyone loves her. Tessanne is everyone’s favourite and it’s easy to see why. The coaches love her and so does the audience. Plus, she has a great smile to go with her fantastic voice.

The Voice airs on Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC. n
