The Roasting and Sushi Brunch at Fourways leaves you spoiled for choice — the selection is like no other.

You can literally serve yourself a three course brunch and have options left over to try if you have room. 

Salads, sushi, cold cuts, shellfish, breads and cheeses for starters; then for mains there are pasta and rice dishes, a selection of kebab and BBQ meats that are cooked and carved right in front of you that can be served with a medley of vegetables, roast potatoes, rich gravies and cassava pie — a pretty good cassava pie at that. 

There was even a goulash, and, for the more traditional Bermudians, a codfish and potatoes breakfast. 

As for desserts, there is a selection of cakes, a station serving freshly cooked pancakes and waffles, fruits galore and — we couldn’t forget the piece de resistance — the delectable chocolate fountain. 

On the whole the food is good, especially the meats which, as they are constantly whisked away by the hungry droves, come freshly cooked, carved off the bone and on to your plate. 

I was relieved to see that they had proper British mint sauce to go with the succulent lamb and not just the sickly sweet fluorescent green jelly that is seen more in America.

There was also a particularly good gnocci cooked in a creamy blue cheese sauce —simple but memorable. It’s one of the dishes I would look out for next time I went. 

As with any brunch there are setbacks — the food is often sitting for a while under heat so your roast potatoes might not have the crisp they had when they came out of the oven.

I like Fourways as it has a sense of humour. 

We went during Hallowe’en and all the dishes were given spooky names — witches fingers (stalks of gnocchi in cheese sauce), skeleton bones (ribs) and bat wings (chicken wings) not to mention the sacrificial beef. 

Manager Andy Detzer dressed up as a clown for the occasion and had all his staff sporting animal print capes. It’s great fun for the kids and adults alike. 

The total cost of brunch at Fourways is $44.75. 

This is not a bad price especially if you make sure you arrive hungry and fill up your plate a few times. 

If you fancy a mimosa to start of the feast that is an extra $11.95. 

It runs every Sunday from 11:30am to 2pm. It makes for a great family meal out.
