Butterfield donates $500,000 to hospital development

Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust (BHCT) is pleased to announce that The Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Limited (“Butterfield”) has donated $500,000 to the Why it Matters campaign, in support of the KEMH Redevelopment Project. 

Philip Butterfield, Chairman of BHCT states, “On behalf of the Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust I would like to thank Butterfield for this substantial gift to the Why it Matters campaign. Butterfield has a long-standing history of assisting Bermuda and their generosity to the BHCT will benefit the community at large today and for generations to come.” 

The donation to the Why it Matters campaign exemplifies Butterfield’s commitment of contributing to the quality of life of people in the community it serves. Butterfield is pleased to support the development of the island’s hospital facilities, as it will help every resident and visitor on the island. Michael Collins, Senior Executive Vice President Bermuda said, “Health and human services is a major focus of Butterfield’s charitable giving efforts, and as the hospital’s new acute care wing will facilitate and enhance the provision of world-class health care services for all of us who call Bermuda home, we felt it was important to lend our support to BHCT and the Why it Matters campaign.” 

The new Acute Care facility has been carefully designed to support and enhance the Bermuda Hospitals Board’s objectives and healthcare delivery philosophy, with special attention to patient-focused care delivery, excellent patient outcomes and a positive environment for clinicians and staff. Departments moving to the new Acute Care Wing are: Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency, Oncology (Cancer Care), Dialysis, Acute Surgical Wards, Acute Medical Wards, Day Surgery and Security.
