The Bermuda Tapes is in the app store
It was a week delayed, but John Lennon: The Bermuda Tapes is now on sale.
The Apple app costs $4.99 and tells the story of John Lennon’s journey to Bermuda in the summer of 1980. It was while he was here he penned the songs for the Double Fantasy album after seeing the flower of the same name in the Botanical Gardens.
Treated
The app says: “Avid Lennon fans will be treated to rarely heard demo music, while all fans will experience innovative storytelling of a pivotal moment in John’s life.
Some of the features of the app include:
• Intimate demo recordings from John and wife Yoko Ono.
• Audio explorations that reveal Lennon’s songwriting process.
• An interactive experience where users take the helm of Lennon’s boat, the Megan Jaye, visit locations in Bermuda that were special to Lennon; and listen to John and Yoko as they write the music of Double Fantasy.
• Newly discovered photos of Lennon aboard the Megan Jaye.
• Interviews of John and Yoko.
• John’s handwritten lyric sheets.
The app was directed by filmmaker Michael Epstein. Digital artist Mark Thompson helped incorporate two streams into the app.
In next Wednesday’s Bermuda Sun we’ll have a review on the app.
